Offering services to the community of Durham since 1988
St Cuthbert’s opened in 1988 and will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary. Set in the beautiful surroundings of the historical Park House, just outside of Durham City Centre, the hospice provides free care and support for people with life-limiting conditions and their families. In 2015 the hospice was the first in the UK to be awarded Outstanding status by the Care Quality Commission.
At the heart of St Cuthbert’s Hospice is the individual who is seen as a unique person deserving of respect and dignity. Our aim is to support each person and their family and friends, helping them to make informed choices and decisions affecting their lives.
All of this care is provided free of charge to our patients. We make no charge for our services and must raise £1.3 million each year through charitable donations and fundraising events in order to continue our work.
